There has probably never been a better time for schools to add a 360° virtual tour to their websites. As well as making their websites stand out, incorporating modern, eye-catching design, with the pressures of social distancing it is the perfect way to invite parents and children to explore school remotely.
We've been busy over the last couple of months, filming and building virtual tours for various schools around the country. From large inner-city academies to charming, rural village schools, no commission is too large or too small.
We thought we'd share some of our recent school tours with you. So, straighten up your uniform, no eating in the corridor, as we take you on a virtual exploration...
As you can see, we can also incorporate aerial drone footage into the tours - just click on the drone symbol by the main entrance and fasten your seatbelts. The aerial views are great for an overview of the setting and location of the school as well as being an eye-catching social media post in their own right!
The tour above was shot over 3 hours on a Saturday morning and the tour was completed 3 days later, ready to be embedded on the school website. Here's a contrasting school to explore. Back in the North this time... How is it done?
Well, the first tour, at the top of this page, was built from 331 separate images, which start off life a bit like this...
I know. Doesn't look much like a classroom.
This is a dual fish-eye image, so each fish-eye lens covers 180%. Each picture on the completed tour is made up of 9 of these, HDR bracketed raw images, which are then merged and stitched so that they look like this...
This is the same room as the previous picture, but stitched in to an equilinear image, which looks strangely warped when viewed flat like this. After editing, this is then used to create the 360° spherical panorama in the virtual tour.
Here's another of our recent school tours. We're heading South again...
Our tours can include any level of interaction. For example, suppose you wanted the sound of the school orchestra to play in the hall, or playground sounds in the playground, we can add that.
Suppose you wanted a link to the school newsletter or website to appear when you click on the noticeboard, we can do that too. We can add regular photography, video, text or links to any area of the tours. Time for another example... Where next? Let's stay in the South East...
After the tour is completed, it's a very easy process to embed the tour on your website. Whats's more, it is hosted remotely so doesn't slow down the performance of your site, sitting in an iframe.
The tour is fully responsive, which means that it adapts it appearance to best fit any device that the viewer is using, from smartphones, tablets, Macs and pc's to VR goggles. It works exactly the same as the tours embedded in this post. Except without our logo in the corner! Once the tour is embedded on your site, that's it. There are no hosting fees or recurring fees to pay. If you need any amendments we can do that for you. If you need any scenes reshooting after renovation or redecoration we can do that too, rather than have a whole new tour built. So, if you are interested in a virtual tour for your school, academy, nursery or, of course, any other business or property, please email us at [email protected] or fill in our contact form on the Contact Us page, and we'd be delighted to help. Here's one last tour for you to enjoy. Where shall we go? The only way is Essex. Apparently...
